ABERDEEN (May 18, 2010) – As the industry takes stock of the first quarter of 2010, ChainCo, a division of InterMoor, is encouraged by its noteworthy milestones in quality and volume of work.
ChainCo’s high-quality standard has earned the company the distinction of being an approved chain inspection company by the new Det Norske Veritas (DNV) Supplier Approval Program 413. ChainCo was previously an approved DNV supplier, but this new program raises the bar on standards in the industry and is designed to ensure only companies that maintain this level of quality will be included.
The new DNV supplier approval standards focus on experience and practical application and require evidence of a company’s claims including documentation of chain inspection units, personnel and procedures.
As InterMoor maintains the same standard from all its divisions and routinely monitors operations to ensure the highest quality, documentation to show its depth of experience and track record of quality was readily available.
ChainCo inspected nearly 700,000ft of chain in 2008 and more than 500,000ft in 2009. In the last year alone, the company’s team of seasoned experts — all with more than a decade of experience — has performed inspections in more than 14 different countries. ChainCo has worked on semisubs and several floating production, storage and offloading (FPSO) and floating storage and offloading (FSO) units for customers in the United Kingdom, Norway, Singapore, Canada, Spain, the Republic of Malta, West Africa, India and South Africa.
ChainCo has the largest fleet of inspection units in the world with seven units situated in six different countries; and a new unit is expected to be up and running in the United States this year, along with an ultra high pressure (UHP) washer to support the cleaning of chain.
ChainCo also is the only company in the world that can offer the option to press loose studs in chain up to 160mm.
“There are other companies that do chain inspections, but we pride ourselves on a level of quality and service that only ChainCo can provide,” said Alan Duncan, Managing Director of InterMoor Ltd.
“We are encouraged by the volume of work we’ve performed and proud to maintain our approved DNV status under the new higher standards. This reinforces our belief that there is no one who can compete with ChainCo’s amount of equipment and experience.”
